Color Your Day – AECP Level 2

Hi Everyone,

Do you struggle with figuring out colors for your card projects? When I am stuck on colors, I get ideas from nature during my travels.  For me, even walks around the neighborhood parks can spark inspirations for color combinations.  Today, I am sharing several projects inspired by Therese Calvird’s “Color Your Day” class.  The class is part of my Altenew Education Certification Program level 2 coursework.  The projects showcase Altenew Craft Your Life Project Kit – Watercolor Flowers.  Let’s look at the cards:    

Card #1 – Wishing You a Beautiful Day

Steps:

Steps:

1. On a Neenah Solar White card panel, I heat embossed the two floral images with white embossing powder. 
2. Following the layering guide, with the coordinating stencils, I ink blended the flowers with Sugared Candies crisp dye ink set along with Buttercream and Warm Sunshine inks. For the leaves, I used the Tropical Forest ink set.
3. I used the same dye inks with water to add shading. I also used woodless watercolor pencils to further enhance shades and depths. Once dried, I died cut with the coordinating die set. 
4. I dried embossed a slimline Neenah Solar White panel using the Stone Wall stencil.  Since I use Spellbinders Platinum 6, I followed the dry emboss sandwich shims that come with the machine.
5. I splattered some grey ink mixed with Ranger Perfect Pearl powder for shimmer and shine. Next, I adhered the floral sprays with some foam tapes for dimension. 
6. For the sentiment, I ink blended “Wish you a beautiful day” in Rubellite and Magenta dye inks.
7. Next, I adhered the entire panel to a berry color card panel before attaching it to a heavy weight slimline card base.  Finally, I scattered some Studio Katia hibiscus pearls to complete the design.

Card #2 – Sending Hugs

Steps:

1. On a heat resistant vellum, I heat embossed the two floral images with silver embossing powder.  I die cut the images with coordinating die sets.
2. Using Altenew alcohol markers English Country Garden Set, Artist Markers Set E, and Primary Essential Set, I painted in the back of the stamped images.  I used several shades pink, yellow and green markers to vary the look. I am not very good with alcohol markers as a medium yet.  This was a good opportunity for me to practice and improve. 
3. On a A2 Neenah Solar White panel, I used Spellbinder’s Hemstitch Rectangle die to add some patterns around the panel.  I dry embossed the panel using the coordinating 3D embossing folder that came with the kit. Next, I lightly ink blended some Rose Quartz dye ink before adhering the floral vellum.
4. I attached the entire panel on another slightly larger berry color card panel before adhering it to the A2 heavy weight card base.   
5. For the sentiment, I heat embossed “Sending Hugs” with silver embossing powder and die cut it the coordinating die set.
6. To finish the card, I scattered some Spellbinders and Honey Bees Stamps gems on the flower centers and the panel. I also painted some Nuvo Aqua Shimmer on the flowers.

Card #3 – Congratulations

Steps:

1. I die cut 2 layers of A2 Neenah Solar white using Moroccan Lattice Cover die and adhered it to the A2 side folding note card.
2. With the other painted vellum floral image described in card #2 above, I attached it to the die cut background panel. 
3. For the sentiment, I stamped “Congratulations” with VersaFine Clair Nocturne ink and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder.  Next, I die cut it with coordinating die.   
4. To finish the card, a scattered some Spellbinders Aura AB gems on flower centers and Onyx gems around the sentiment.
