Hi Everyone,
It has been a while since my last post. Work has been hectic, and I have not been able to craft as much as I would like. I have been admiring Susan Tierney-Cockburn’s floral die sets for some time. Since it’s a friend’s birthday this month, I thought it would be a perfect opportunity to learn how to make these fabulous realistic flowers. I am using Susan’s Floribunda Rose die set for this project.
I am also playing along with the Flower Challenge #85.
It took a bit of effort to learn how to color and shape the petals and leaves. This friend’s favorite color is red. For texture, I used different shades of red alcohol markers. To enhance the focal floral arrangement, I thought a 8×8 frame card would be perfect along with some beautiful gold butterflies.
On the inside, I stamped and colored an arrangement. Also heat embossed the “celebrate” sentiment to tie together the outside with the inside.
The 8×8 frame was made from 12×12 pattern paper. I recommend using a heavy card stock to ensure a sturdy frame. I also attached extra cardstock to the back so that the entire card can stand.
Susan has many tutorials on Spellbinder website that I found very educational if you are interested in learning how to make these realistic florals. I can’t wait to play with more of her designs in the future. I love how the project turned out and hope my friend will like this framed birthday present.
Thanks for stopping by and happy crafting
Lillian
