Hello,
You can probably tell from my posts that I love flowers. I especially love yellow flowers. After taking Altenew’s Altenew Educator Certification Program Level 2 Stephanie Klauck’s “In the Mood for Color” course, I gained a better understanding of how colors convey our moods and how to incorporate color moods in our hand-made cards.
For example, blue represents calm and tranquility. Red denotes love, passion and energy. Green conveys soothing, growth and natural. Yellow portrays energy, cheer and optimism. Pink shows sensitivity, caring and sweet. And Orange represents health, happiness and courage. I am generally an energetic, optimistic, and cheerful person. No wonder I love yellow flowers so much! For my second level 2 AECP homework submission, I am sharing a card made for a friend’s mom’s birthday whose favorite color is also yellow. I am also playing along with The Flower Challenge with this card.
Let’s look at how I made the card which featured the Altenew Craft Your Life Project Kit – Magnolia and Blooms.
Steps:
- On an 80 lb Neenah solar white panel, after applying anti-static powder, I heat embossed with Brutus Monroe gilded gold power.
- With the coordinating stencils, I ink blended the image using different shades of Altenew yellow dye inks for the flowers and shades of green dye inks for the leaves. Next, I die cut the ink blended image with the coordinating die set. For added texture, I dry embossed the die cut image with the Magnolia and Blooms 3D embossing folder.
- On a separate Neenah solar white 80 lb. 4.5”x 4.5” panel, I dry embossed using the Gems 3D embossing folder to be used as background. For additional interests, I added some gold splatters on the panel and applied Altenew marigold ink directly around all four corners of the panel.
- Next, with some dimension foam tapes, I adhered the floral image and added the gold foiled “Happy Birthday” sentiment left over from another project. Tip: while the supplies are out, I always make extra die cuts or sentiments, so I have them available to use later.
- I attached the entire panel on a 4.75” x 4.75” yellow Neenah heavy weigh card stock.
- To complete the card design, I added some gold pearls on the flower centers and around the sentiment.
I hope you found some inspirations to incorporate color moods in your card making. Thanks for stopping by and see you again soon.
Lillian
