Lovely Layers – Happy Birthday Card

Hi Everyone,

I made this card for a friend’s birthday. She is a scrapbooker, so I wanted to make sure the card has a wow factor. I love using die cutting techniques in cards especially layering dies. I have the Honey Bee Stamps’ Anemone and the Secret Garden cover die sets in my stash for a while. This birthday card was the perfect opportunity to play with these gorgeous die sets.

To begin, I had some left-over alcohol background panels I made using Ranger alcohol inks on photo papers for other projects. My friend’s favorite color is red. These panels had the perfect shades of reds and pinks. After die cutting the anemone floral layers, I added small form tapes to ensure the flower has dimension. For background, I used Spellbinders’ Intertwined Lattice embossing folder on a Neenah solar white 80 lb. panel, and ink blended it with pink dye ink for added contrast. Then, I die cut the Secret Garden cover die twice, adhered them together for dimension and with some foam strips, attached it over the embossed panel. I finished the card with matte gold hot foiled Spellbinders’ “Birthday Wishes” sentiment and some gold pearls.
