Mother’s Day Fun Fold Card

Hi Everyone,

It has been a while since my last post.  Work has been quite hectic lately and I haven’t been able to craft much.  I am sharing a Mother’s Day card which is inspired by Yasmin’s fun fold card she shared on Pinkfresh Studio’s card blog several months ago.  Anyway, my mom is also an avid crafter.  To wow her, I thought a fun dimensional card would be perfect for Mother’s Day.  Let’s look at how the card was made.

I am also playing along with HLS May Anything Goes with Dies Challenge.

Steps:

For the fun fold card base, I used half of a 8.5’ x 11” heavy weight white cardstock, scored at: ¼, 1, 1-3/4, 2-1/2, 6, 6-3/4, 7-1/2 and 8-1/4 inches.

Fold each side inward at the score lines, using Teflon folder to reinforce the lines.

Place 1/8 size double-sided adhesive to the ¼ fold on both sides and each side forms a square pillar.

For the tone on tone added texture, with heady weight cardstock scrap, I die cut two different patterns from Spellbinder’s “Thank you for your kindness” and “Create a slimline border” die sets for the front of the pillars and the background.

Tip: I found it easier to add the die cut texture to the background before forming the pillars.

To decorate the front, I used a heavy weight card panel and adhered different die cut elements.  Those die cut elements were made from color cardstocks from various florals, leaves, stems, and berry clusters from Spellbinder’s Club Bloom, Sealed Wildflowers, and Be Bold Blooms die sets.  Once completed, the floral cluster covered the card panel so that it appears to be floating.  I decided not to add a sentiment.

I added several small gems to the floral centers for some extra bling. 

The card turned out beautifully and I love that it folds flat to fit in an A2 envelope.  Hope you give this fun fold card a try.  Thanks for stopping by and happy crafting!
