Hello Friends,
I am back sharing a slimline wedding card using Spellbinders’ November 2022 Small Die Club – Layered Floral Card Creator. With the engagement card I shared in the previous post, along with this card, I have had so much fun with this month’s club kits. I can’t wait to make more cards with these sets soon. Spellbinders’ club kits are economical and versatile. Here’s a link to check them out if you haven’t already. Let’s look at how I made the card.
Steps:
1. I die cut the floral background twice with dark green cardstock and four times with black cardstock. I glued the two black backgrounds to the green one for sturdiness and dimension.
2. For the flowers, leaves and berries, I die cut each layer with shades of pink, purple, blue, green and teal cardstocks. For the flower outline, I used Spellbinders’ brushed gold cardstock.
3. On a gray panel, for added interest and texture, I used one of the dies from Spellbinder’s Create a Slimline Border die set to create a border. I also added a strip of brushed gold cardstock to the top of the panel.
4. I typically add foam tapes to the panel for dimension. But since there are already dimensions in the die cuts, I simply adhered the panel to a darker gray card base. Next, I added some pearls on the flower centers and some Ranger glossy accents on the berries for texture and shine.
5. Since this is a special card, I wanted to decorate the inside as well. Using Spellbinders’ November Clear Stamp Club set, I stamped one of the floral images with Distress Oxide Pumice Stone, Hickory Smoke and next layer with Black Soot. This gave the appearance of layered embossing. It’s very cool. Next, I adhered a left-over pink floral die cut to the stamped flower. I also added another gold flower to round out the design.
6. For the sentiment, I used Simon Says Stamps “Congratulations” die set which I die cut three times with black heavy weight black cardstock and once with the green / teal customed colored cardstock left over from another project. After adhering the layers, I heat embossed the sentiment with clear embossing powders several times and the last layer with Altenew’s translucent embossing powder.
The colorful flowers, leaves and berries gave the gray background a stunning contrast. I hope the couple will love this card as much as I do. See you next time.
Lillian
