Hello Friends,
A little while ago, I shared a holiday card using Spellbinders’ October club kits. I am sharing more cards using the same die sets with different designs. I am not sure about you, but I am a bit behind on making holiday cards this year. I am also submitting these cards for the flower challenge.
Card #1
1. I die cut on heavy weight the poinsettia and leaves dies from Spellbinders’ October Large and Small Die Club sets.
2. I ink blended the poinsettia with shades of coral and orange inks and the leaves with aqua ink. I also added highlights and shadings with alcohol markers.
3. For the background, I used Spellbinders’ December 2021 Large Die of the Month – Layered Stitched Background. There are three layers in the set. I die cut the base layer with heavy weight white card stock, middle layer with aqua card stock and top layer using brushed gold. For contrast, I also ink blended another panel using yellow and orange dye inks. I adhered all the layers together.
4. After gluing the three poinsettias to the panel, I added some gems on the flower centers and throughout the panel.
5. For added interest, I die cut Spellbinders’ Callista Rectangle Shadow Frame using aqua cardstock to round out the overall design.
6. To complete the card, I heat embossed “Seasons Greetings” on the inside of the card.
Card #2
The second card was created with same first two steps. Instead of using all three layers of the Layered Stitched Background die set, I opted for the base layer. Separately, I used the two border dies that came with the set to create four borders with brushed gold and white cardstocks. To further enhance the design, I partial die cut the top two thirds of the note card with Taylor Expression’s Diamonds Piercing Plate and left the bottom third for the sentiment. I heat embossed “Season’s Greetings” with Brutus Monroe gilded gold embossing powder. To complete the card, I added some gold pearls on the flower centers and around the sentiment.
Here’s another look at the three cards from this holiday card series. Which one do you like most?
Thanks for stopping by. See you next time.
Lillian
