Valentine’s Day Cards

Hi Everyone,

Do you make Valentine’s Day cards? I don’t usually make them. Spellbinder’s December 2022 Club kits were designed for the occasion and since I am a subscriber, I thought I make a few cards.  I was also trying out some new techniques in these projects.  Let’s look at the cards:

Card #1 – Heart Shaped Card

Steps:

1. From Spellbinder’s December 2022 Large Die Club kit, I die cut the large heart to make a shaped card.  I have not made a shaped card before.  This die is large enough to a make a shaped card that fits well in the traditional US A2 size envelope.  I also die cut 2 additional heart panels out of grey cardstock.

2. I embossed one grey heart shape element with Simon Says Picnic Floral 3d embossing folder.  Next, I ran the VersaMark ink pad over the embossed image and generously applied Ranger’s Perfect Pearl all over to add shimmer metallic effect.   I glued the embossed panel to the front and the other panel to the back.

3. Then, I die cut one flower cluster with vellum and one with grey cardstock.  I used different pearl, pink, fruit punch, berry, mahogany, and glitter silver cardstocks to die cut the layering flowers. After assembling the flowers, I adhered them to the clusters and attached them to the front and inside of the card.

4. For the sentiment, I die cut “With Love” die set with berry and silver glitter cardstocks.  I glued them together the berry color die elements provide a shadow.  I stamped “You Are Always on My Mind” on the inside.  The sentiment came from the Clear Stamp of the Month Club kit.

5. I finished the card with some Studio Katia’s hibiscus pearls.

Card #2 – To My Forever Person

Steps:

 1. With a Simon Says Tumbling Hearts stencil from my stash, I added some Simon Hurley Game Over Lunar Paste to red card panel for a tone on tone look.  This is the first time I played with Simon Hurley Lunar Paste.  I really like it and will add more colors to my stash soon.

 2. After letting it air dry, to create some added interests, I die cut the border using two dies from Spellbinder’s Create a Slimline Border die set.  Next, I adhered the panel to a pink cardstock.

3. On separate pink card scrap, I heat embossed the “To My Forever Person” stamp using white embossing powder.  I did some simple coloring with red, white, and green colored pencils.  On a separate fruit punch card crap, I inked the same stamp with Game Over Lunar Paste and colored it the same colored pencils.  I die cut both with the small heart die that came with the Glimmer of the Month Club kit.

4. Then, I adhered the heart elements to the panel; one with some foam tapes for dimensions.  I finished the card with some crystal-clear hearts embellishment from Ellen Hudson.

Card #3 – You Are My Forever

Steps:

1. Using the Large Die of the Month Club kit, I die cut the two clusters with blue cardstocks.  I used some left-over backgrounds, some brushed gold and grey card stock scraps to die cut the layering flowers elements.  I assembled the layering flowers and glued them to the clusters.

2. On a separate light blue A2 panel, I dry embossed it using the same heart stencil used in the first card above to create a subtle background. 

3. Next, I adhered the two floral clusters to the panel.  I die cut “You Are My Forever” die with brushed gold card scrap.  The die came from the January 2023 Small Die Club of the Month kit. 

4. I finished the card with some Gina K Designs black and gold pearls.

I love how the cards turn out.  There are still a few items I haven’t used from the kits.  I will make more projects to share soon.  Thanks for stopping by and happy crafting!
